Firetrace 1230
Firetrace 1230 fire extinguishing systems fight fires using the chemical extinguishant Novec™ 1230 by 3M™. This extinguishant is neither corrosive nor electrically conductive. It is thus especially suitable for protecting rooms containing electric and electronic equipment.
Firetrace1230 systems extinguish fires without leaving residue, while offering a high level of personal and environmental protection at the same time. They are particularly suitable for the protection of small and medium-sized rooms, and the extinguishing agent can be stored compactly, either inside the room or in another area.
How does Novec 1230 work?
Novec 1230 extinguishes fires by removing heat. All fires need heat, oxygen, and a fuel source to continue to burn. By removing any of these three elements, you can extinguish the fire. Other fire suppression agents, such as carbon dioxide, remove oxygen. Because Novec 1230 removes heat instead of oxygen, it is safer to use in occupied spaces, because it does not pose a suffocation risk for people.
Novec 1230 advantages:
Novec 1230 is safe for people, so a fire suppression system with Novec 1230 can be installed in an occupiable space
After a Novec 1230 fire suppression system puts out a fire, Novec 1230 evaporates immediately. You do not need to clean it up
Novec 1230 leaves no residue and is safe for equipment, including sensitive electronics and machinery
Novec 1230 disadvantages:
Compared to other types of fire suppression systems, Novec 1230 fire suppression systems can be more expensive
Novec 1230 is not as common as other fire suppression chemicals, such as carbon dioxide, so it can be more expensive and time consuming to refill a Novec 1230 fire suppression system after it has discharged.
